The barrels were handed over to the organization by Joseph âBurnsâ Bonadie to assist residents of Georgetown who were adversely affected by the recent flood.
The supplies were sent to Bonadie by Vincentian friends Dr. Sonia Adams and her husband residing in the United States of America (USA). The Adams family learnt of the recent flood and thought it was necessary to come to the assistance of residents.
On handing over the barrels, Bonadie expressed gratitude to his friend and her husband and said it was a privilege for him to come to the assistance of those in need.
Deputy Director (AG) of NEMO, Houlda Peters, expressed gratitude to Bonadie and his friends for the timely assistance. She noted that the residents of Georgetown lost all of their belongings to the flood and that the assistance will be of enormous value.
The residents affected by the recent flood are currently living in Emergency shelters as the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines seeks further assistance for alternative homes.
