15 retired primary school headteachers honoured

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Primary Schools Headteachersâ Council, headed by Yvette Bowens, recognized 15 retired primary school headteachers last Wednesday, June 1, at the Young Island Resort, where a dinner was held in their honour.{{more}}
These teachers, whose respective careers span over two decades, hail from diverse parts of SVG. According to Bowens, the Councilâs current president: âThey are solid educatorsâ.
âWe thought it was necessary to say thank you to them, and we also see this occasion as an opportunity to socialize with the current headteachers (primary school).â
Bowens emphasized that they are genuine nation builders in the sphere of Education.
Ministry of Education officials, including the Chief Education Officer, were also present at Wednesdayâs occasion.
Recognition of Retired Primary School headteachers is an ongoing bi-annual event which was inaugurated in early 2005.
The Council has been in existence for well over two decades.
In addition to Bowens, the other members of the executive body are Shirlin Maloney – Secretary/Treasurer, and Maureen Williams,
Vice President.
