The 1,077 boys and 1,024 girls are sitting this component of the English Language examination at their particular schools.
Todayâs test comes one week ahead of multiple choice tests in English Language, General Paper and Mathematics, which will be held on Friday, June 3, and will take place at 19 centres around the country.
The 2,101 pupils, who must have attained the age of 10 years, six months by September 30, 2011, have already been assessed in Reading. These assessments took place over the last few weeks.
In recent years, the results of the CEE have been made available within one week of the multiple choice tests. Chief Education Officer Louanne Gilchrist told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday that this year, the Ministry is working towards achieving that goal, âbarring any unforeseen circumstancesâ.
The CEE is an achievement test to determine the standard the child has attained at Grade 6. It is, however, primarily used as a test to determine placement of the child in the secondary school system.
Children who score among the first 500 are placed in the school of their choice, depending on their position. All other pupils are placed in the school nearest to their place of residence.
