Courts sponsors Primary Schools Choral Speech Competition
Tons of prizes are in store for the schools emerging on top in the Courts St. Vincent Ltd. sponsored, Ministry of Tourism Primary Schoolsâ Choral Speech Competition scheduled for next Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Peace Memorial Hall.{{more}}
The Finals of the competition will see 13 schools participating, with the School for Children with Special Needs making a guest appearance.
The competing schools are the Barrouallie Anglican, Belmont Government, defending champions Bequia Anglican Primary, Bequia Seventh Day Adventist, Brighton Methodist, Calliaqua Anglican, Cane End Government, C. W Prescod Primary, Layou Government, Lodge Village Government, Sandy Bay Government, St. Maryâs Roman Catholic, and Gomea Methodist.
Education Officer in the Ministry of Tourism Jacqueline Joseph said âthat the choral speech, under the theme: âOur Children Talk Tourism; Proud, Patriotic, and Playing our Partâ aims to revitalize the art of choral speaking, as well as to build awareness of the tourism industry in the primary schools.
âWe are looking forward to seeing what the children of this countryâs perspective of the tourism product are and how they would do through choral speaking, to promote tourism.â Joseph said.
âWe are pleased that Courts is on board as platinum sponsors and are delighted that they are a part of pushing the tourism agenda.â
Up for grabs compliments Courts are trophies for the top five schools, a Dell desktop computer and an all in one printer for the school placing first; a Dell computer and printer for second place, another Dell computer and 16 gigabyte flash drive for third, a digital camera for fourth, ad a mini stereo system for fifth.
A Challenge Trophy, donated by General Employees Cooperative Credit Union is also up for grabs, with additional sponsorship coming from E-com institute, Basil Charles Educational Foundation and Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Courts Marketing Officer Alexis John said âMy company is pleased to be the major Platinum sponsor of the competition, and our involvement reaffirms our dedication to both education and tourism development in St. Vincent and the Grenadinesâ.
He said âWe are deeply involved in Education in this country, through our Reading and Spelling Bee competitions, as well as other initiatives, so it was very easy to support the competitionâ.
âWe are fully aware of many economic benefits this industry can bring to our island. As a result we want our nationâs children to voice their opinions on the way forward for the industry, and this competition allows them to do so. We also want to take the art form of chorale speaking out of the doldrums. It has been at an all time low for too long.â
The Marketing Officer announced that Courts brand will continue to support the competition for more many years.
