Bowman’s Pharmacy opens its doors for business

Curtis Bowman says that he has accomplished a goal with the official opening of his pharmacy last week Wednesday, May 18 at the Teachers’ Credit Union Building, formerly the Cambridge (Touch) building in Kingstown.{{more}}

Bowman told SEARCHLIGHT that many persons were asking what he would do should he fail in his bid to be the Parliamentary representative for Marriaqua in the December 2010 General Elections.

“People were saying to me, ‘Bowman you’re leaving your job to enter politics? What if?’”

But the pharmacist with more than 16 years experience in the public service said that he had no intention of being a government pharmacist, adding that his previous experience will be used as a stepping stone.

“I always know even though I didn’t get back my job that I have my plan,” he said, adding that if plan A did not work out there was always a plan B.

Bowman further explained that he tried to give service to the people and was unsuccessful, but now he has the opportunity to serve not just the people of Marriaqua, but the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Bowman’s Pharmacy is one with a difference – I want this to be different than any other,” he contended.

While he may not be able to compete with the types of pharmaceutical products he offers, Bowman said that his establishment offers a different kind of service.

He is offering drop off and pick up services on prescriptions; persons can also call or fax in their prescriptions, and for customers working in Kingstown, they can have their medication delivered.

Blood sugar level and blood pressure checks are also some of the services offered, Bowman said.

All this and the assurance that whatever medications the customers are looking for he promises that they will get just that.

“It would be a pharmacy with a difference,” Bowman said.

It has been less than a week since the doors have been opened, but he said that the response has been good so far, adding that he anticipates great things for the future.(DD)
