Pastor Augustus is new diplomat
Pastor Edson Augustus is this countryâs newest diplomat. This was confirmed yesterday by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Foreign Affairs Andreas Wickham, who told SEARCHLIGHT{{more}} that Cabinet has approved the appointment of the former Seventh Day Adventist Pastor to a diplomatic posting overseas.
During a brief telephone interview, Wickham, while confirming that Augustusâs appointment had been approved by Cabinet, was unwilling to say which office Augustus will be assigned to, as this decision has not yet been confirmed by Cabinet.
Wickham, however, disclosed that Augustusâs appointment will be in North America.
Augustus made the news just over three months ago, when he resigned as a Pastor of the St.Vincent and the Grenadines Region of Seventh Day Adventists, which falls under the Caribbean Union Conference of Seventh Day Adventists.
His February 10, 2011 resignation came in the midst of allegations levelled at him, which he chose not to comment on, when asked by SEARCHLIGHT.
Augustus, who is originally from Richland Park, but who resides at Cane Garden, is expected to take up his overseas appointment within the next month.
He is married and has two daughters.
