The four-week course, dubbed the Secondary Schools’ Summer Internship Programme or SSSIP, runs from July 11 – August 5, 2011, and will enable four 4th and 5th form students, selected from Secondary Schools nationwide, to intern at Invest SVG.

During the internship, the students will be exposed to the work and responsibilities of a department of their choosing. They will have the option of working in the Business Facilitation, Export Development, Research, or Marketing departments.

Acting Marketing Manager Tonya Fraser, in explaining the principal reasons for the internship programme, said “We want to educate the young people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the purpose of Invest SVG and the ways in which we fulfill the same. By building awareness from the ground up, we hope to instill a sense of understanding and ownership towards the economic development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.” In essence, the students will be able to understand their own roles as nation builders in the economic development of the country.

Invest SVG commences promotions of the Secondary Schools’ Summer Internship Programme (SSSIP) this week, in association with the Ministry Of Education. Students are encouraged to visit Invest SVG’s website, www.investsvg.com, to download the application pack, which consists of the SSSIP application form and handbook. Packs are also available electronically through the schools. Applications will be evaluated on a basis of merit.
