However, thanks to the efforts by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) and their plan to equip all educational institutions across the country with Hi-Speed Wireless Internet Service, Michaelâs school is now connected to the world wide web.
At a telecommunications fiesta held at the schoolâs premises, put on by the Office of the Prime Minister, Telecommunications, Science, Technology and Special Projects along with the NTRC and other stakeholders as part of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on May 17, the school was host to an array of ICT services.
Michael, in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT, said two weeks ago, the school was connected to the Internet compliments Telecommunications provider LIME.
âOver the years, we thought that nobody was bothering with us. No communication was coming our way, but we are now connected, thanks to the NTRC and other telecommunications provider,â Michael said.
In the schoolâs 44 year existence, Michael said they had never seen such a venture taken on and expressed her delight in being able to finally use the computers effectively now that they are connected to the Internet.
âI think the Internet will get us closer to the world, and I want to thank all those who were instrumental in helping us get connected,â Michael expressed.(KW)
