Muntai – ‘Me know who it is, but me nah say’
Some persons are still trying to determine who, if anyone, asked âMuntaiâ to clean a culvert along Grenville Street in Kingstown.{{more}}
Muntai, a man who lives on the streets of Kingstown, created a scene last Thursday, May 12, after he was seen âfishingâ bits of garbage and debris from one of the gutters in Kingstown.
Items ranging from a loaf of bread to bits of plastic were brought to the surface.
This is not the first time that the man has been seen doing this, but it was the method used by Muntai that was the cause for concern, and had tongues wagging.
He repeatedly dove into the murky water, without the aid of any protective gear to retrieve the waste.
However, Muntai is remaining tight-lipped about who is the person or persons behind his actions.
âMe know who it is, but me nah say,â he said.
âIt wonât be right fo say who,â the man continued.
One employee at a nearby store told SEARCHLIGHT that the man had been down in the culvert for quite a while.
He too was puzzled as to just who had sent Muntai to clean the drains.
Meanwhile, Muntaiâs good deeds got mixed reactions from passersby with some encouraging the man to think about his health; while others cheered him on, saying that he was in fact doing a more efficient job than those who are paid to clean the streets of Kingstown. (DD)
