A news release from VINLEC stated that the increase in the average cost of fuel was cushioned by a favourable production of electricity from the companyâs hydroelectric plants.
The contribution to electricity generation from the hydroelectric plants avoided the impact of an increase in the average fuel cost. This, along with an increase in electricity sales for the month of April, gives rise to a reduced Surcharge Rate on bills for the month of May, the release explained.
During the past months, rising fuel prices on the international market have resulted in increases to the fuel surcharge rate on electricity bills.
