The decision to sign the two Vincentian song writers was made public by renowned music producer Ivan Berry, during the song writersâ camp, held here last week.
Berry said that the decision was made because he and his team were impressed by the work of both Cyrus and Gloucester.
âCyrus is a successful song writer for many years and Kandi is a new, young song writer,â he said.
In fact, Cyrusâ previous publishing agreement had expired, but according to Berry the signing of the two was more than just talk.
He explained that Cyrus has worked with several big-name international recording artists and record executives, sending material back and forth.
And while the songs that have been written have not been considered yet, Berry said the material was well received and besides doing work on the upcoming album for Canadian artiste, Veronica, Cyrus and Gloucester will also have between six and 10 songs that will be on âsuccessful albumsâ.
âI think that is great for St. Vincent,â he said.
Berry further stated that while everybody in the region wanted to be the next Rihanna, the reality of the situation was that they cannot.
âSo, whatâs the other avenue if you want to be in the music industry? Song writing is an economically viable
alternative,â Berry contended.
The Vincentians were part of the team of writers that were here working on the debut album for 15-year-old Canadian artiste Veronica and Berry anticipated that there would also be future hit collaborations. (DD)
