JEMS Youth Club hosts AIDS Candlelight Memorial at Brighton
JEMS Progressive Community Organization, the JEMS Youth Club and Southeast Development Inc. (SEDI) will host an AIDS Candlelight Memorial in Brighton on Sunday, May 15.{{more}} The event will be held at the gap below the cemetery starting at 7 p.m.
Part of the Global Health Councilâs 28th annual International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, the event will honor those affected by AIDS, specifically those living with the disease and those who have lost their lives to it.
âThis is an opportunity to educate individuals, families and communities about HIV and AIDS,â says JEMS President Rhonda Lee in talking about the event. Lee further encourages all in the Brighton community to come out and join their neighbors for the event.
Complementing the candlelight program, members of the JEMS Youth Club will lead a procession to the event site and the Southeast Youth Steel Orchestra will perform throughout the evening.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines is among more than 100 countries that will be participating in the worldâs oldest and largest grassroots mobilization campaign for HIV/AIDS awareness.
The JEMS/SEDI 2011 AIDS Candlelight Memorial program in Brighton is funded by a grant from the United States Peace Corps and USAID.
