Members of the St. Vincent JCI recently held an interview with SEARCHLIGHT about the organizationâs current activities, which include training of its members and community outreach.
The organization celebrates its 66th anniversary this year, while the local Chapter will celebrate 51 years of existence.
The local Chapter of the organization, also known as Jaycees, will also be hosting a SVG JCI week from May 22 -28, which will include outreach in several communities spreading information on health related issues. Lectures on health related topics will also be done.
A recruitment drive will also take place during the week where interested persons can contact the organization to become members.
President of the JCI West Indies Brenda Albert told SEARCHLIGHT that the organization offers many opportunities to young people, and it also allows young persons to give back to their communities, as well as the opportunity to develop into well rounded individuals. Albert visited the island to facilitate training for local JCI members as well as meet with the members to promote the purpose of their activities.
The JCI programmes for this year include the JCI Ten outstanding Young Persons of the World, where the JCI selects 10 persons under 40 who best reflect the mission of JCI. Other programmes include JCI Training, JCI World Public Speaking and JCI World Debating Championship.
Persons interested in joining the organisation can contact the local office at Stoney Ground or via email JCISt.Vincent@gmail.com or visit the website www.JCI.cc
