‘This country’s Prime Minister should be charged with treason’ says Eustace

This country’s Prime Minister should be charged with treason, says Leader of the Opposition, Arnhim Eustace.{{more}}

Eustace made the blunt remark on Monday, May 9, 2011, on the New Democratic Party’s (NDP) New Times programme, in relation to a criticism that Gonsalves levelled against persons who support the NDP.

“I understand that in his press conference, on his return from the royal wedding, that the Prime Minister was blaming myself and the NDP, saying that we were blocking the receipt of funds for relief.

“The Prime Minister is talking, we should be charged with treason; …he should be charged with treason for the mismanagement of the finances of this country that he has done for the past years that he is there, which has harmed countless lives in this country. He should be charged for treason for that, as far as I am concerned,” said Eustace.

Eustace said the NDP would like St.Vincent and the Grenadines to get the necessary funds to repair the damage to improve people’s lives who had lost almost everything during the recent storm.

The Opposition Leader noted that the Government has failed because it has not done proper assessments on the damage caused by the trough system that affected the country on April 12.
