The event took place on Thursday, April 28th, at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown and featured this countryâs top performers in each secondary school; top performers after remediation, top performers in subject disciplines and top male and female performers were among those being awarded.
Special recognition was also given to the top ten performers in the 2010 Common Entrance exams, the student with the best national CSEC results, as well as the top performer after remediation.
This year, an increase in students who excelled in the CSEC examination after being unsuccessful in the Common Entrance examinations five years ago (remediation) was noted.
Phil-Ann John, a former student of the St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua, was the top student in that category with ten passes, and was rewarded by Angus Steele, Manager of LIME, the sponsor of last weekâs event.
Former St. Vincent Grammar student Israel Carr, the student with the best CSEC national results (12 grade ones, twelve distinctions), was also recognized as the top male performer, while Meisha Charles, formerly of the Girlsâ High School was the top female performer.
Other awards went to the most improved school (Petit Bordel Secondary), best results after remediation (Emmanuel High School Marriaqua) and best overall CSEC results (Girlsâ High School).
Congratulatory remarks were delivered by Chief Education Officer Louann Gilchrist, LIME Manager Angus Steele, and Minister of Education/ Deputy Prime Minister Girlyn Miguel.
