In order to help to alleviate the situation, SVG Solidarity In Action Inc. has decided to award four bursaries to children of farmers and workers from the affected areas who are sitting this yearâs Common Entrance examination.
Details of this will be announced at a subsequent date.
Hurricane Tomas in October of last year and then persistent rains during last month have severely affected the economic and social life of persons residing in those areas.
In addition to heavy environmental and infrastructural damage, students in the area have been placed at a disadvantage, particularly during this crucial final term examination period.
SVG Solidarity In Action Inc. is also looking into how it can help in the broader relief effort, especially to help workers and farmers who are most affected.
