Fun walkers commemorate NBC’s 25th anniversary
As part of activities to commemorate the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) 25th anniversary, more than 1,000 persons whipped out their sneakers and took to the streets in a national wellness walk{{more}} put on by the radio station on Monday, May 2.
The walk commenced from three starting points – Belmont, Calliaqua and Campden Park, and ended at the compound of the station at Richmond Hill.
With bright smiles shortly after 7a.m., soaked shirts and aching bodies, participants in the walk took the time to join in conversation, while others did exercises.
The event also saw several persons being rewarded.
The most challenged person award went to Valentine Samuel of Argyle. Biggest belly went to Christopher John and with a size 13.5 shoes, Minister of National Reconciliation, Maxwell Charles was adjudged as winner of the biggest shoes.
Rihanna Harry, four, Jada Sterling, five, and Sheena Nicholls were the youngest walkers on Monday.
These persons will receive vouchers compliments Better Brands, Keystone Family of Stores, Kyeâs Vegetarian, Aggies, Ras I-tal Vegetarian Cuisine and host NBC.
NBCâs General Manager Corletha Ollivierre said the feed back from the walk has been positive and persons have called into the radio station to express how much fun they had.
Ollivierre also noted that the walk is just part of the process of NBCâs rebranding as a family station.
On July 1, 1986, a Bill was passed in Parliament to establish the NBC, with the purpose of developing broadcasting in the country.
