12 lasses to contest National Secondary Schools’ Miss Heritage Pageant

The pageant hosted by the St.Vincent Girlsâ High School was officially launched on Friday, April 29, at Frenches Houses.
It is being held under the theme: âFrom the Roots We Grow to the Arms We Know: Women -Our Heritageâ.
After engaging in a series of activities in the upcoming months, 12 students will vie for the coveted title on October 22.
The contestants are Monize Gordon, of the Bequia Community High School; Chelsia Burke, Georgetown Secondary School; Listra Burgin, West St. George Secondary; Britney John, Union Island Secondary; Anya Frederick, Girlsâ High School; Clareesa Jacobs, Intermediate High School; Precious Abraham, St. Josephâs Convent Kingstown; Jonique Chance, Thomas Saunders Secondary; Beverna Simmons, George Stephens Secondary; Turphanie Davis, St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua, Evisha May, Sandy Bay Secondary; and Kiara Vanloo, J.P. Eustace Memorial Secondary.
At Frenches House the contestants got the opportunity to meet with and hear experiences of past contestants, before they were introduced to the audience and sashed.
They also viewed a DVD presentation of the National Secondary Schoolâs Miss Heritage 2009.
Tomorrow, the contestants and their chaperones are expected to take part in the Girlsâ High School Blue and White Affair, which is expected to be a spectacular event.
Before the event ended, contestants and their chaperones were brief on public etiquette and what is expected of them during the pageant.
