KCCU celebrates 53rd anniversary

Wednesday, April 12, the Kingstown Co-operative Credit Union Ltd celebrated its 53rd anniversary.{{more}}

Kingstown Co-operative Credit Union (KCCU) Ltd was established on the 3rd October, 1957, at a meeting held at the Peace Memorial Hall; 51 persons were in attendance at that meeting. KCCU was later registered on April 12, 1958, with a share capital of $253.98 and membership of 53 persons.

The Kingstown Co-operative Credit Union Ltd exists to promote and provide affordable high quality financial service principally geared towards the needs and development of its members and the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Today, 53 years later, KCCU has shares of EC $34 million and membership of 12,815. KCCU operates from offices on mainland St. Vincent, Bequia, Union Island and Canouan. Its major products include: savings; deposits; loans; utility payment services; medical insurance; death benefit plan; free loan insurance; free shares insurance; and free financial counseling. KCCU’s service to the Vincentian society and members within the Diaspora has earned it the recognition of member service excellence.

KCCU has made, and continues to make, significant contributions towards the development of

our people in the form of sponsorship to: Sports (Grammar School road relay since 1989); Education (scholarships since 1995, KCCU annual school quiz since 1992); Culture (National Dance Festival since 1992), Social donations to the needy and a significant number of persons and groups.

To commemorate this anniversary and respond to membership needs for the creation of a small loan facility, KCCU has launched a new product called KCCU READY CA$H. It has the following attributes, among others:- rapid same day processing; a competitively lower interest rate; a separate loan. Direct deduction or salary assignment is required. Other terms and conditions also apply. This addition naturally results in a more comprehensive palette of products that better serve its members.
