Speaking at a press briefing Wednesday at Cabinet Room, Gonsalves said that he was responding to an error that was aired on the lone television stationâs nightly news programme, where a reporter said that the damage was in the thousands of dollars.
In fact, the prime minister in his preliminary assessment had estimated the cost of the damage to reach in the tens of millions.
âNow, when people hear that, and this is being broadcast throughout the world and region, people will say what Ralph making all this noise about,â the PM contended, adding that during times such as now it was important that the media reported accurately.
âSometimes it doesnât matter, but in this period where people already have enough trauma in their lives.
âLet us try to get the basic things right so we can stay on the same page,â the prime minister asserted. (DD)
