The event being staged by Vincentians Rochelle Baptiste of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Broadcasting Corporation and Sean Rose, along with Tasheka Lavann, was officially launched on Thursday, April 8, 2011. The programmeâs theme is: âBrain Power and Mental Wellnessâ.
The aim of the campaign is to stimulate interest in mental health issues and to increase the levels of awareness about this crucial development issue among the student population on the Mona campus.
The campaign is part of the studentsâ requirements to gain a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media and Communication from the University of the West Indies.
For this project, the team adopted the name Communication Analysts Research Experts-CARE.
So far, the students have received support from Jamaicaâs Ministry of Health and Versan Educational Institute, and have secured sponsorship from Supreme Ventures.
Other activities will include interactive sessions with students, release of a news, letter, production of a public service announcement, along with posters displaying various messages on Mental Health.
The campaign will close with a special Social Drama event on Thursday, April 14, 2011, on the lawn outside the CARIMAC building, Kingston, Jamaica.
