The dinghy was recovered this morning from the Calliaqua fisheries dock, but the outboard engine had been forcibly removed and is still missing.
The reward is for the return of the outboard engine and information leading to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the perpetrator(s). Anyone with any information should contact John West, Managing Director of TMM St. Vincent, on 784 456 9608 or 784 532 8490. All information will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
On a related note, West, who is also President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Recreational Marine Association, praised the hard work and diligence of the Union Island Police for the apprehension of a perpetrator in connection with the spate of thefts from yachts in and around Mayreau earlier this year. He understands that from new information, a second person is being sought in connection with the crimes.
West went on to say that everyone in tourism has a zero tolerance towards crimes perpetrated on our visitors, especially as it is they, that are the life blood of our economy throughout the length and breadth of the country.
News of yacht crimes travels fast and wide across the social media and does nothing more than cause incredible harm to the otherwise excellent reputation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines as the Caribbeanâs finest sailing destination.
