Sharpes’ resident wins LIME’s prize to attend Bequia Music Fest

Redemption Sharpes resident Kimisha Stephens won the LIME prize to attend the Bequia Mount Gay Music Fest 2011. The prize was an all expense paid trip for two to the festival which included ticket to shows and access to artistes back stage.{{more}} The very excited Kimisha expressed delight at winning the grand prize from her favorite telecommunications company and said: “The weekend was excellent musically, and also relaxing. I got to meet Arturo Tappin back stage after the show, and that was the highlight for me. Thanks to LIME.”

And to kick off the first activity on this year’s cultural calendar, LIME, this country’s leading telecommunications provider and part sponsor of the event, was there in Bequia to give support and treat its customers to prizes and giveaways.

Thousands of spectators flocked the festival venues from last Thursday, January 27th, to Sunday 30th. Thursday was the turn for the Elite Steel Orchestra at the Frangipani Hotel. Friday 28th was the turn of the Mustique Blues Festival, featuring Dana Gillespie and the London Blues Band. Saturday 29th was billed as the night of the stars, featuring the Caribbean’s leading saxophonist Arturo Tappin, Toby Armstrong and the Mount Gay Blues Band out of Barbados, local acts like Amanda Gooding and The Country Relatives from Bequia. But it was the young band Nexcyx from Barbados which “brought the house down” with all the latest rock, pop, reggae and soca.

Sunday was a day for chilling on the beach and listen to Denzil Bacchus Blues Band and the Bequia Blues band. The grand finale party features the band from Barbados Look Hooz Left. By that time we were all back on mainland after enjoying an exciting week end of the very best music.

“We can now look forward to Easterval in Union Island and the Bequia Regatta in the near future and, of course, Vincy Mas 2011, where LIME will be a super platinum sponsor yet again,” commented LIME General manager Angus Steele.

LIME customers who bought services from the company and zero their account balance were given chances to win the grand prize, while the company also gave away fifty tickets in the three week promotions.
