SVGTA spreads cheer to 40 on Christmas Eve

For the second consecutive year, members of staff of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) spearheaded a Christmas Charity with the aim of spreading cheer and extending hospitality to the less fortunate in the society.{{more}}

The 2010 Christmas Charity undertakings held on the morning of December 24 -Christmas Eve involved preparing and serving breakfast to approximately forty homeless persons around Kingstown, as well as the presentation of gift baskets to two less fortunate families from the Sandy Bay area. Lusanda Baptiste and Millicent Baptiste were the recipients of these baskets.

The Christmas Charity concept was developed by the staff of the SVGTA as their annual goodwill gesture.

Meanwhile, on January 2, 2011, members of staff of the Authority along with the Board of Directors celebrated the Authority’s 2nd Anniversary with a Dinner at the Young Island Resort; the dinner also served as the social event for the season.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority is the national agency entrusted with the responsibility of promoting the country as a tourist destination, developing standards and regulating the quality of the local tourism service providers. The SVGTA is also required by law under the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority Act No. 39 of 2007 to assist in the development of the varied tourism products on offer.

The SVG Tourism Authority which began operations on January 2nd, 2009, is located on the 2nd Floor of the NIS Building. The Authority also has offices in London, New York and Toronto, as well as Information Desks at the Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados, E.T. Joshua Airport, Arnos Vale, and Cruise Ship Terminal Kingstown. The staff compliment currently stands at twenty-five.
