Son wins Blackberry phone for his mom

Thanks to Digicel, Jon Clifton was able to give his mom Diane Da Silva Clifton a Blackberry handset for the New Year.{{more}}

Clifton, who hails from Kingstown Park, but is currently pursuing university studies in England, is the winner of Digicel’s Facebook Fanpage Treasure Hunt, which on December 17th, 2010, offered participants the chance to win a Blackberry 9700 smartphone. Clifton, accompanied by his mom, collected his Blackberry 9700 on Monday at Digicel’s Corporate Offices located in the Lewis Building on James Street.

Handing over the smart phone, Marketing Executive Justin John explained that Digicel gave “our Facebook fans the opportunity to win a Blackberry 9700 through an online treasure hunt in which we sent 10 questions to them.” John said that the questions sent persons searching through numerous Digicel related website for the answers. These sites included www.digicelsvg.com and www.digicelfootball.com.

The first person to post all the correct answers on the Digicel Facebook fan page (In this case Clifton) won the phone.

On Monday, before making his way back to England to continue his studies, Clifton said: “I feel excited, I won credit before but this is the best prize I have ever won from Digicel”. He added that he has been a customer for six years and he has no complaints about the service.

When asked what he thinks about Digicel’s Facebook fan page, he commented: “It’s a great web tool. It’s an excellent forum where people can interface with Digicel”.

Accepting the phone from her son, Da Silva Clifton said that she was happy to have a Blackberry. “ I am very pleased that my son chose to give me the phone as a present.”
