16 competitors in the Rockstar Star Search finals

If the preview that the Rockstar Star Search finalists gave at a recent press conference is a hint of things to come, then Vincentians will be in for an auditory feast at the SVG Fun Fest finals on New Year’s Eve.{{more}}

The 16 competitors made the cut out of over 60 applicants who hailed from communities throughout the island.

Show Organiser Colin ‘Mastermind’ Graham said it was a tough choice for the judges, as the standard of applicants was outstanding.

“We were taken back at the talent. It was a very difficult task for us to slim down the semi-finalists to just sixteen,” revealed Graham.

He pointed out that there was a good balance of male and female applicants, but warned the male finalists to bring their ‘A-game’ because the females have shown themselves to be formidable opponents.

The finalists are: Noveisha James, of Richland Park; Fitzroy Creese, of Questelles; Genene Browne, of Lodge Village; Kerona Samuel, of Layou; Tonne Edwards, of Campden Park; Euston Duncan, of Georgetown; Franeica Glasgow, of South Rivers; Jamal Delplesche, of Montrose; Official Stars (Seroje Gibson and Keevin Bentick), of Greiggs; Shaquan ‘Shaq Man’ Ashton, of Sion Hill; Alvin Collins, of Greiggs; Janet Jackson, of Layou; Karrel ‘Vincy Boy’ Greaves, of Kingstown; Amanda Vanloo, of Edinborro; Lesroy Arthur, of Stubbs; and Ayesha Matthews, of Campden Park.

Dougal Allen, of Megawattz Studios, explained that the top three winners will receive record deals with Non-Fiction Recordings or Megawattz Studios.

The event, which takes place at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, will also see the finals of the ‘Number One Spot’ dance competition.

The groups taking part are Lynx Dancers, Unknown Squad, Gully Dancers, Close Fit Squad, Diversity Dancers and Touchdown Dancers.(JV)
