LIME reaches out to the less fortunate for Christmas

LIME does it again! This year LIME once again made Christmas special for less fortunate members of Vincentian communities in its Annual Christmas Community Outreach. Just over 200 persons in the Windward, Leeward and Grenadines communities were treated to LIME’s Christmas baskets recently.{{more}} This year, besides the usual Christmas food items, persons received radios, flashlights, bottled water, and sanitary items for babies.

General Manager Angus Steele says “LIME Annual Christmas Community Outreach program is in keeping with one of the Companies 5Cs – Community involvement”. He added that while our tag line says “LIME.For.Living.Everyday,” Christmas time is a particularly special time for the company, as the management and all colleagues take part in spreading the Christmas joy to the less fortunate in our communities. The GM is especially pleased to be able to donate to the Fancy/Sandy communities, two of the communities he visits regularly and loves dearly.

LIME Annual Christmas Community Outreach started some 10 years ago, where members of staff took to rural communities and the Grenadines distributing food packets to the less fortunate. This annual activity has become one of LIME’s signature community events. Over the years, the outreach has touched the hearts of LIME colleagues so much that they have assisted in constructing houses, donating household appliances and meeting other needs that were encountered on the outreach visits.

Sandra Matthews, Manager of Human Resource, and the coordinator of the LIME Annual Christmas Community Outreach program, says: “We are particularly heartened this Christmas to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate, especially to those affected by Hurricane Tomas”.

When asked why LIME continues to give so generously every Christmas, and especially this year when most companies are cutting back, she replied: “It’s always a pleasure when we at LIME can make a meaning difference in the life of our communities, and more so at this festive season, where we can put a smile one someone’s face for Christmas.” She added: “It feels right to be able to give back to the communities that we serve.”

Following the distribution of packages to communities across St.Vincent and the Grenadines this week, the staff will also receive a treat. On Friday, December 10, the colleagues of LIME will celebrate Staff Appreciation Day. As it is the LIME custom, the General Manager, Angus Steele and Human Resource Manager Sandra Matthews will personally deliver a gift and express thanks to each colleague for a year of hard work and encourage their commitment for another year.
