Lawyer Arthur Williams has defended himself against accusations by a former client that he did not do his best to represent him at trial.{{more}}
Grantley Adams, who earlier this week had his conviction and sentence quashed in an unlawful sex matter, told SEARCHLIGHT that he was wronged by Williams and that he should have never hired him in the first place.
âI did my job to the fullest. I donât know what he is talking about,â Williams stated on Wednesday afternoon, via telephone.
Adams, who was sentenced to 12 years in May 2009 for having sex with a 13 year-old girl, said he was not sure from the outset that he had the right lawyer.
Just before conclusion of the trial last year, Williams withdrew from representing Adams.
However, Williams remains adamant that he represented Adams fully at that time.
âIt is a misdirection on the judgeâs summing up. It has nothing do with me…,â Williams said.
âI made a huge blunder when I took him (Williams) to do my case. He did not deal with me in a professional way,â Adams said.
