The competition began on Friday, October 22, 2010. Students were asked to research the topic ‘Computers’ and write a forty minute essay on ‘Why I would Like to Have a Computer’, at nine different centres throughout the nation.

This competition, which was formerly known as the Leo Club St. Vincent Primary Schools’ Reading Competition, saw participation from 33 Grade 5 students from schools throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Leo Club St. Vincent, for the second year, is encompassing all aspects of Literacy, that is writing, reading, and comprehension. Eight students with the best essays will go through to the finals to be held tomorrow, where they will read their written essays, as well as a spontaneous passage and answer questions based on that passage.

This year’s competition has so far received sponsorship from FirstCaribbean International Bank and the Central Water and Sewerage Authority.
