James called to the UK bar
Journalist Carlos James has been called to the Bar of England and Wales.
On October 14, 2010, he was published Utter Barrister by the Honourable Society of Grayâs Inn.{{more}}
He read for a Bachelor of Laws honours degree from the University of Huddersfield, through Holborn College, and completed the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) and a Master of Laws degree at the City Law School, formerly the Inns of Court School of Law in London.
The 26-year-old graduate is a member of the Honourable Society of Grayâs Inn and served as Publicity Officer on its student committee, along with the portfolio of editor of the publication the âGriffin.â
James, a former graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona campus, was an integral member of the media fraternity here. In 2004, he was awarded a Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) award for âExcellence in Health Journalismâ and also served on a steering committee commissioned to re-establish the local media workersâ association.
James spent over five years working with the SEARCHLIGHT as a sub-editor and worked as a correspondent for the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) before leaving St. Vincent and the Grenadines to further his studies.
He is a member of the Human Rights Lawyersâ Association (UK) and is currently attached to the Commonwealth Secretariatâs headquarters in London.
