New UWI Student Guild promises to work tirelessly
The newly elected body of the UWI Open Campus St.Vincent and the Grenadines Student Guild has pledged to endeavor to work tirelessly for student enhancement.{{more}}
This assurance was given when the Executive held a meeting on Wednesday, October 6, to discuss issues and to put plans in place for the upcoming academic year.
President Fiona Charles stated that the newly elected body appreciates the opportunity to serve and would create a strong legacy for future guilds. She also stated that student centered activities, community oriented services, as well as fund raising activities would be held to assist students.
The guild was elected at the UWI Open Campus St.Vincent and the Grenadines on September 29, with Fiona Charles as President, and Janeel King as Vice President. The other members are Licia Nero John, Timora Peters, Jeshanah Davis, Attica Allen, Pethion Greene, Hadasha Butcher and Semonique Harry.
Head of the Open Campus Dr. Adrian Fraser congratulated the students and stated that the formulation of the guild was an important part of the Open Campus. He pointed out that students must be represented. He also encouraged the students to get involved in the various operations and management of the higher learning institution. He also described their participation as a very positive part of the schoolâs development.
There are over 300 students attending the UWI Open Campus, St Vincent and the Grenadines.
