Basia talk show to premier on SVGTV Saturday

Basia – the Caribbean’s number one talk show comes to SVGTV.{{more}}

It began airing in Trinidad and Tobago just over a year ago and now it’s coming to St. Vincent and the Grenadines exclusively on SVGTV.

Basia will premier on SVGTV on Saturday, October 2, at 4 p.m. and will be repeated on Wednesdays at 11a.m.

The focus of the show is to feature Caribbean celebrities and persons who have contributed to the Caribbean region. Each season, the show presents celebrities to audiences both live and in studio.

The one-hour programme is hosted by Alicia Powell, the wife of Former West-Indies cricketer, Ricardo Powell; she brings her entertaining personality to the big screen.

Alicia is said to be the Caribbean’s version of Oprah Winfrey and has interviewed the likes of the the ‘royal couple’ of soca, Fay-Ann Lyons Alvarez and her husband, Bunji Garlin; Vincy superstar, Kevin Lyttle; Barbadian soca queen Alison Hinds; Ky-Mani Marley, Tanya Stevens, Baby Cham; Tessanne Chin; Tami Chynn, among a host of others.

This year the show has taken a new dimension with the introduction of Special Caribbean stories featuring sports personalities and former presidents, among others.

So far, the show has been airing in Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Cayman Islands, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, Jamaica, St. Kitts and now St.Vincent and the Grenadines. In larger Caribbean countries about 200,000 people watch on a nightly basis.

Marketing and Programming sources from SVGTV stress that each episode is different and that according to reviews there has not been anything like it for Caribbean people and Caribbean celebrities are loving it; it’s not simply talk, but also humour, music videos and entertaining personalities.
