To this end, the Executive of the SVG Green Party is sending warm congratulations to the 18-years-old.
Yasmin gained three As and one A profile in the four Advanced level subjects that she took in June 2010: Mathematics, English A, French and Economics.
She achieved a place at the university to read English.
The Green Party in a news release states that these types of results can be gained by most children in SVG if they were given the right opportunities.
âThe ULP regimes education strategy is failing young people and not providing the correct opportunities for the most needy – the poor,â the release stated.
The Green Party further stated that the whole structure of the ULP regimeâs education strategy for children aged three to 18 is flawed.
âIt lacks foundation, a motivational environment, appropriate support mechanisms and most seriously, is not blended in with the SVG economy,â said the Green Party.
The Party is of the view that this is illustrated by the fact that the education results show that generally only the children of the middle and upper classes are achieving.
âThe children of the poor are being left behind. This is unacceptable in any civilised society,â the release added.
