Ex-porn star coming to tell her life story

Ex-porn star, Danielle Williams, of Los Angeles, now a born again Christian, will be coming to St.Vincent and the Grenadines on October 1 to minister to Vincentians.{{more}}

She will be here on the invitation of the Evangelical Association, which wishes to tackle the problem of pornography addiction among Vincentians.

Caldon Charles, Youth Pastor at the Church of the Nazarene, a member of the Evangelical Assocation, told SEARCHLIGHT that Williams will testify and show how God can transform someone’s life, even when they and society give up all hope.

Charles said the Evangelical Association spent the earlier part of this year conducting a series of discussions on how pornography affects people and their relationships.

“We discovered during our conversation across the board young people are faced with the issue of pornography. Hence, there is a need to sensitize them concerning the dangers of pornography, as it relates to their relationships,” said Charles.

He said in May, he was at home browsing the Internet for some information when he came across an interview with Williams, now a minister, and Pastor Justin Cox.

He said he thought the information he gathered was important as well as emotional.

Charles noted that after praying with his wife to God for further guidance, he e-mailed Williams and she expressed her willingness to come to St.Vincent and the Grenadines to share her experiences. He said the initiative was endorsed by the Evangelical Association.

Charles holds the view that Williams’ story offers hope. She was abused by her step-father at age eight; raped by her neighbour; became a teen mom, teen stripper, teen prostitute and a porn star, all by age 18.

“It is looking at her story and seeing how God can transform her life. When you think there is no hope, when you look at how He transformed her life, He can do that to anyone else,” said Charles.

On her visit here, Williams is also expected to tell of the lies behind the porn industry from an insiders perspective.

She will be ministering in schools, colleges and churches during her 11-day visit.

“We expect lives to be transformed and delivered from the bondage of pornography addiction,” said Charles.

He said he does not expect the initiative to be a one off exercise. Following Williams’ visit, Charles said an accountability group will be set up to help people across the country.

On Saturday, October 2, Williams will kick off her ministry here at the Streams of Power Church at North Union at 6 p.m. This will be followed by a session at the Kingdom Life Church in Barrouallie on Sunday, October 3 at 6 p.m.

On Thursday, October 7, she speaks at Kingdom Life Tabernacle, Mesopotamia, from 7p.m, and on Friday, October 8, at Hope for Life from 6 p.m.

She will then take her message of deliverance to Faith Temple on Saturday, October 9, at 6 p.m. and at the Bethel Gospel Assembly, Georgetown, on Sunday 10. (HN)
