Party politics not a factor for Cuba
Cubaâs outgoing ambassador to St.Vincent and the Grenadines, Olga Trias, said a countryâs internal politics does not have anything to do with the bilateral cooperation shared by Cuba and the member states of CARICOM.{{more}}
She made this clear to SEARCHLIGHT during an exclusive interview on Tuesday, September 7.
The relationship shared is between Government to Government and people to people, said Trias.
âAll the cooperation with any country is done independently of politcal parties. So Cuba does not interfere in internal politics. The decision of the Vincentian people will be respected.
âAs long as the Government wants us here to continue and to complete whatever we have been doing, we will be here, including the international airport, including the diagnostic centre, …including everything, the students and everything,â said Trias.
She added: âOf course if by any chance a government does not want us around we will just go out, but our cooperation is with the country, with the state, with the people.â
âIf a country says âCuba, thank you very much! We appreciate what you have done but we do not want it anymoreâ, no problem. More than that we did in Africa and we left and we did not have anything from Africa: not diamonds, not oil, nor gas. We did not give anything in change or in interchange for anything,â said Trias.
