James is the winner of the first Digicel Aunt Jobe’s Supermarket Sweep Promotion. James was chosen along with Curtis Greaves and Karen Barrett to take part in the competition which saw the three shoppers being given three trolleys and 90 seconds to place 10 or more items in their shopping cart. The catch was that the person whose 10 or more items came closest to EC$300 would win the EC$500 shopping spree.

James had 14 items that amounted to EC$379.68. Barrett had a total of EC$272.85 but she only had eight items in her shopping cart. Greaves went overboard with 39 items amounting to EC$646.34.

On winning, James said that she has been with Digicel since 2003, “I feel excited and delighted. I am happy to be rewarded by Digicel and pleased to be winning $500 worth of groceries from Aunt Jobe’s”. She added that she shops at the Stoney Grounds located Aunt Jobe’s “occasionally”, as they have “premium items and it is a great supermarket to shop at.” Barrett and Greaves both got EC$100 as reward for their efforts.

Witnessing the competition, Marketing Executive Justin John said that this is the first of nine shopping sprees that will be held every Wednesday at Aunt Jobe’s Supermarket. He added that persons are entered in the competition by paying their post paid bill on time or topping up EC$20 or more. Giving the rules of the competition for future competitors, John said that a customer must have at least ten items in their cart and can only pick up a maximum of two items the same. He added that the use of calculators is strictly prohibited while he stressed that the items that are picked up do not belong to the competitors.

The event was also witnessed by Digicel’s Marketing Manager Juno DeRoche and Floor Managers at Aunt Jobe’s Mesi Harrington and Alford Lynch.

DeRoche used the opportunity to thank persons for supporting the bigger better network while urging persons to continue using the service, “as this can be you here winning $500 worth of groceries”. Commenting, Harrington said that Aunt Jobe’s is pleased to be a part of the promotion, as it is a good way of rewarding customers.

The next shopping spree takes place on Wednesday, September 15th, in the evening.
