Lorna Lewis, author of the book: “The Journey of a West Indian Soul”, along with a team of four, journeyed from the United States to donate back packs and school supplies to all students of the school. A short ceremony was held and in attendance were parents, teachers, students and the Peace Corps Volunteers stationed in the Community.

Short addresses were delivered by Headteacher Elizabeth Johnson who thanked Lewis for her generous donation to the school. Lewis encouraged students, teachers and the parents to continue to make education their priority because education can provide many opportunities for development. Teacher Jasmine Spencer gave an overview of the project, and Simeon Greene, a parent, encouraged the students to take care of their bags and to use the supplies constructively. Simeon Greene Jr., a student and recipient, expressed thanks on behalf of the students.

Following her presentation to the Diamond Government School, Lewis journeyed to the nearby Aunty B Pre School to donate toys and other education resources.
