Taiwanese volunteers visit Governor General’s Deputy

Dame Monica Dacon, The Governor General’s Deputy, warmly received the two new Taiwanese volunteers to St. Vincent and the Grenadines on August 30.{{more}}

The two volunteers, Bor-Lin Miao and Ya-Sung Lee were accompanied on the visit by the Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Michael Lin.

Bor-Lin Miao and Ya-Sung Lee brieflyoutlined their areas of expertise – hospital management and website design, and expressed that they are eager to work with Vincentians to share their knowledge.

They emphasized that it was a great honour to meet with Dame Monica. They said they strongly believe that this Vincentian experience will be unforgettable and cherished.

Dame Monica wished them success as they perform their duties in SVG. She encouraged them to enjoy the beautiful Vincentian country and culture as well.

Charge d’Affaires Lin said that Taiwan has dispatched volunteers from different areas to SVG for many years. Upon SVG’s request in 2010, Miao and Lee were assigned to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Telecommunications, respectively. The Embassy will continue to work with the Vincentian government to have more Taiwanese volunteers to serve here, a release from the Taiwanese Embassy said.
