Striders Club awards students for excellence

Anthony Glasgow, of Diamond, and Juwani Neverson, of McCarthy, are the proud recipients of the Striders Club Awards for Excellence in the Common Entrance Examination.{{more}}

Each received $1,000 to assist with back-to-school expenses. Glasgow placed 36th for boys and 84th overall, with scores of 93.33 per cent in Maths, 83.79 per cent in English and 88.33 per cent in General Paper, while Neverson placed 69th for girls and 123rd overall, with scores of 80 per cent in English, 88.33 per cent in Maths, and 86.46 percent in General Paper.

The Striders Club, which caters to the communities of Brighton, Belvedere, Prospect, Diamond and Junction, started its awards programme in 1995. Since then 26 persons have benefited from the programme.

The club is also involved in community activities such as clean up exercises and visitation to the elderly. They have also donated to the Brighton Methodist School on several occasions.

The parents of Anthony and Juwani, Ingrid Neverson and Judith Neverson, respectively, expressed thanks to the Striders for their contributions.(OS)
