Vincy Soca Extravaganza, which takes place on Saturday, September 4, at the Aviator Indoor Ballroom on 3159 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, will feature more than twenty local and foreign based Vincentian soca artistes and DJs on the same stage.
As promoters of the event attempt to outdo themselves after last yearâs highly rated show, they have guaranteed that the likes of three time Soca Monarch Skinny Fabulous, Road March King Maddzart and his Madd Symphony band mate Tamisha, along with former Road March winner Problem Child and veterans Winston Soso, Scorcher, Dennis Bowman, Becket and a host of others will be in attendance.
The performers will be joined by one of the countryâs best known DJs 2 Cool Chris, along with New York based EZ Sounds and Madd Driva.
Saturdayâs main event will be preceded by the Caribbean Fashion Extravaganza, which will feature designs from Vincentian designers (Donna Weekesâ Ethel, Kimmystic from Kimon Baptiste, Celeste Johnnyâs Johnny Vincent and Karen Defreitasâ SOKA) as well as designers from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, and Barbados.
Then on Sunday, September 5, the promoters will host a blanc sur blanc (all white) midnight boat cruise.
A number of artistes and DJs will once again be the feature, as patrons sail from Emmons Avenue on the New York Princess, a three level luxury yacht, bigger than the ones used on previous cruises, to accommodate the larger number of persons attending the event.
The organizers say that the New York Labour Day weekend events brings together the largest gathering of Vincentians in the United States, and will facilitate the coming together of Vincentians as they renew friendships and celebrate the countryâs heritage and culture.
