During their stay, the group paid a visit to the ‘Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary’ to understand what the Sanctuary has done to preserve the endangered Hawksbill turtles. Orton G. King (Brother King) warmly received them and explained how the turtles are protected and cherished.

The Taiwan Youth Ambassadors expressed admiration for Brother King’s efforts to protect the endangered turtles and Bequia’s environment.

In an expression of support, the group donated EC$1000 to assist in the Sanctuary’s endeavors.

The Taiwan Youth Ambassadors is headed by Dr. Yen-lung Tsai. The six Youth Ambassadors are Amy Lan, Sherry Lai, Pablo Hsieh, Lily Chang, Rachel Shih and Tony Hu. They held a two-week summer camp in the Community College to share Taiwan’s culture with local students from July 12 to 23. The Ambassadors also learned about Vincentian culture from the students, such as traditional Vincentian dances.

A final presentation will be made by the Vincentian students and the Taiwan Youth Ambassadors on July 23, 4:30pm, at the Methodist Church Hall.
