Government to ratify child protection treaties soon

Health Minister Douglas Slater has given the government’s commitment to ratifying various child protection related treaties.{{more}}

The commitment came as the Minister launched the Early Childhood Health Outreach, ECHO programme at the Anglican Pastoral Centre in New Montrose on Monday, June 7.

Slater disclosed that he has already spoken to the Attorney General who has started the process for the treaties to be ratified.

ECHO, the latest initiative by the government to target at risk children from birth to three years old by providing early stimulation is being undertaken in partnership with the Caribbean Child Support Initiative, PAHO and UNICEF.

Slater says he is confident and optimistic that the ECHO programme will work towards improving child development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
