Vincentian jailed in BVI

Wilbur Cupid, 26, a Vincentian living in the British Virgin Islands for the past two years, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.{{more}}

Cupid pleaded guilty to intent to commit grievous bodily harm, unlawful discharge of a firearm and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

According to an online news article posted by the Virgin Islands Platinum news, Cupid was sentenced on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, for shooting Arthur Bellingy in his shoulder last month at their East End apartment.

For intent to commit grievous bodily harm, Cupid was sentenced to nine months, for unlawful discharge of a firearm – eighteen months and for keeping an unlicensed firearm – twelve months. The sentences will run concurrently.

According to the article, on the night of the incident, the two were engaged in an argument over the plugging in and out of a radio.
