Government to conduct major energy efficiency study

THE GOVERNMENT OF St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with funding from the European Union’s Special Framework of Assistance (SFA) 2006, will commission a major Energy Efficiency Study of at least seventy-five public buildings throughout the State.{{more}} A contract was awarded to the consultancy firm of Egis Bceom International of France in late December 2009 and work is scheduled to commence in early February 2010.

The main purpose of this energy study, among other things, is to demonstrate the benefits of energy-saving technologies and practices in the Government buildings and to provide employees of various Government agencies with information to increase their awareness on how energy resources are used in the workplace and how their actions can directly affect energy consumption.

The study will be executed over a ten month period and the work by the Consultants will be supported by the Energy Unit in the Prime Minister’s Office in collaboration with other Government and State-owned agencies. The recommended results of the study will be implemented also with funds from the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines and the European Union.
