The society received the donation on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at a presentation held at the National Society of Persons with Disabilities office at New Montrose.
The funds were raised in November 2009 during the churchâs annual programme for persons disabilities.
During the presentation, Pastor Brent St. Jean of the Calder Seventh Day Adventist Church noted that his church has a passion for people with disabilities and is hoping to make the presentation an annual one.
He said the initiative goes a long way in fulfilling the churchâs role of caring and sharing. The church should set the example, said St.Jean.
Patricia Cumberbatch, President of the National Society of Persons with Disabilities, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the society. She said no matter how small the donation, it would go a long way in developing the organizationâs programmes.
Beulah Samuel, Coordinator for the Ministry of Persons with Disabilities at the Calder SDA Church, thanked Cumberbatch for her cooperation during the planning of the two disabilities programmes held at the church and expressed the desire to work along with Cumberbatch on under similar initiatives.
The ceremony was witnessed by Claydon Ollivierre, First Elder of the Calder Seventh Day Adventist Church.
