Cabinet reshuffle

Vincentians are waking up today to a new look Cabinet.

The announcement of the changes were made on Monday evening by Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves in an address to the nation broadcast on radio and television.{{more}}

Leaving office are Senator Julian Francis, Minister of Housing, Lands, Informal Human Settlements and Local Government and Conrad Sayers, Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Michelle Fife, attorney at law has been appointed Senator replacing former Senator Richard Williams.

Fife is also expected to serve in the capacity of Parliamentary Secretary.

Saboto Caesar is being promoted from the rank of Minister of State to that of full Minister as he takes over Francis’ ministerial portfolio.

Francis will retain his Senate seat, but will now focus on his role as General Secretary of the Unity Labour Party.

Also in early March, Senator Rochelle Forde is expected to demit the offices of Senator and Deputy Speaker.

It is expected that Sayers will be proposed to the House of Assembly for the post of Deputy Speaker while a senatorial replacement for Forde will be formally announced. (DD)
