Nine for Finals of first ever Bequia Reading Competition

Nine young reading enthusiasts on the Grenadine Island of Bequia will compete in the Finals of the first Bequia Reading Competition next week. The nine were selected following an impressive preliminary round which was held on November 29 at the Rotary Club centre.{{more}}

The nine finalists who will compete for reading supremacy on the Grenadine Island are Saleisha Compton and Titalie Benn of the Bequia Community High School; Mariah Gooding and Blossom Walker from the Bequia Seventh Day Adventist Primary School; Brianna Richards of the Paget Farm Government School, and from the Paradise Primary School – Zakiya Ollivierre; Tamara Woodley, Christian Friday and Ella Mitchell-Sutton. The Finals are slated for Thursday, December 17th, at the Rotary Club Centre at Lower Bay beginning at 5.00 in the afternoon.

A number of businesses and individuals on Bequia as well as mainland St. Vincent have contributed to the event by donating prizes as well as cash and providing other tangible support to the competition. The competition is being held under the auspices of the three year old Bequia Reading Club.
