Sion Hill Brownie Pack wins District Sports Day

Despite the dismal start to the day with thunder and showers, the sun did eventually shine to allow the Sion Hill Brownie Pack to emerge victorious at the Brownie District Sports Day held at the Stubbs field on Saturday, November 1.{{more}}

The Brownie packs were involved in healthy competition participating in activities, namely 60m, 100m, 4 x 100m needle and thread, lime and spoon, three-legged race, wheel barrow, hoopla and obstacle races. There was also the 100m race for parents and Guiders, with Mrs. Franklin emerging winner.

No individual prizes were awarded. A bag of items for craft and other activities was presented to the three brownie packs that scored the most points. First place was taken by Sion Hill Primary Brownie pack, second place Biabou Methodist Primary Brownie Pack, and third place went to Calder Primary Brownie Pack. The other three competing packs were from Calliaqua, Brighton and Stubbs Primary.

The results for the events were as follows: 60M, Biabou 1st, Brighton 2nd, Calliaqua 3rd; 100M, Biabou 1st, Calliaqua 2nd, Sion Hill 3rd; 4 x 100M relay, Sion Hill 1st, Biabou 2nd, Brighton 3rd; Lime and Spoon, Sion Hill 1st, Calder 2nd, Stubbs 3rd; Three legged race, Sion Hill 1st, Biabou 2nd, Calliaqua 3rd; Needle and Thread, Sion Hill 1st, Biabou 2nd, Calliaqua 3rd; Wheel barrow, Sion Hill 1st, Calder 2nd, Calliaqua 3rd; Bean Bag, Sion Hill 1st; Calder 2nd, Stubbs 3rd; Hoopla, Sion Hill 1st, Calder 2nd, Calliaqua 3rd; Obstacle race, Calder 1st, Stubbs 2nd and Calliaqua 3rd.

Chief Commissioner Althea Commissiong expressed her satisfaction in the team spirit and thanked the Brownie Commissioner for organizing the event and parents and Guiders for their support.

Brownie Commissioner Jacqueline Soso-Vincent stated that next year will see the winners of the districts coming together for the final sport event.

Soso-Vincent expressed gratitude to the friends, well- wishers, parents and Guiders for the donation of prizes.
