Hours before balloting started, all the vehicles from several of the rental services were booked out, leaving several prospective renters searching frantically for wheels.
On Wednesday, SEARCHLIGHT caught up with a few of the rental company operators in and around Kingstown to get a feel of what business was like on that day.
Ricky Brackin, owner of Rickyâs Auto Rental and Import Services, said that all of his vehicles had been rented out the day before the referendum.
He noted that politicians rented most of the vehicles.
Garth Oliver, of Rent and Drive, situated in Arnos Vale, reported that it was not normal for all his vehicles to be rented at midweek, as was the case this week. He said he believed it all stemmed from Wednesdayâs referendum.
Gregory Boyea, owner of Gregâs Auto Care and Rental Service, told SEARCHLIGHT that his vehicles were rented very early and that four of his vehicles were rented by CARICOM and OECS observers who were in the country to witness Wednesdayâs historical event. (KW)
