The programme, previously administered by the Ministry of Transport and Works, is designed to maintain roads of the highest quality across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

It will run for approximately four weeks and is estimated to cost $3 million, and will constitute the largest road-cleaning programme ever undertaken in the country.

The Buildings, Roads and General Services Authority was established on July 1, 2009, to undertake construction and maintenance of roads, buildings, bridges and jetties, and to provide stone crushing, quarrying and construction operation and other related services to the government.
